Jul 1, 2020 · Changed the batteries on a friend's gshock(?) but the backlight isn't working. I've read about doing an AC reset which I think I did correctly? I used a wire to connect the battery (+) to the hole marked AC (see pics). Every other function of the watch works. It's just the backlight. Any help is appreciated! Here's some pics of the watch:
Silicone grease. You can get it from hardware stores in the plumbing section. Make sure it’s the grease, not caulk, that’s different. The grease has a similar texture to Vaseline. Just add a thin layer to the oring after cleaning the seal with some clean water or isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab and you’ll be all set.
The thing is they tend to do a pressure test after a battery change. There are two types of test: exposing the watch to 20 bar of water or 20 bar of air. G-shock lads, when you order a battery change first ask how they do the pressure test. Ask for an air pressure test. If they can't do it, take it to another place.
